Qualifications

• Requires a Tennessee teaching license
• Experience working with students preferred

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepares for class assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons and units.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
• Strives to implement district philosophy and instructional goals.
• Assesses student progress and provides progress reports.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks district specialist assistance as required.
• Provides for student and equipment safety.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and classroom rules.
• Makes oneself available to students and parents outside instructional hours when required.
• Plans and supervises assignments for aides and volunteers and evaluates their performance.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on committees.
• Other duties as assigned.
