Job summary

Surgical Directions is seeking an experienced RN Operating Room Manager to oversee daily surgical operations at multiple Chicago-area facilities. This independent contractor role emphasizes regulatory compliance, patient safety, staffing coordination, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and leadership.

Requirements include a current RN license, 5+ years OR nursing, 2+ years management experience, and CNOR preferred. EMR experience and strong communication are assets.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted RN license in the applicable placement state.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of Operating Room nursing experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership or management experience in perioperative services.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative standards.
• CNOR certification strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily OR operations and perioperative services.
• Coordinate surgical schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission standards.
• Monitor patient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities.
• Develop and enforce OR policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
• Coordinate and supervise OR nursing and surgical support staff.
• Assist with staffing schedules and coverage planning.
• Provide orientation, training, and mentorship to clinical personnel.
• Promote teamwork and professional communication among surgical teams.
• Participate in recruitment and evaluation of OR personnel.
