Job summary

Bakersfield College, part of Kern Community College District, seeks an Interim Food Service Assistant Manager. You will oversee cafeteria and concession operations, supervise staff, and manage budgets and sanitation for daily services and events.

Under the direction of the Food Service Manager, you will plan, organize, and supervise food service activities, ensuring high standards of food safety, cost control, and customer service during an interim period not exceeding two years.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or equivalent.
• Five (5) years' experience in responsible leadership in a food service operation.
• Possession of California Driver's license.
• Increasingly responsible, successful experience in food service operation, concession and catering.
• Sensitivity to diverse socio-economic, cultural, ethnic and disability backgrounds.
• Possession of/or ability to obtain a valid California Sanitation Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct daily cafeteria and concessions operations.
• Ensure proper storage and utilization of foods and orders.
• Manage and supervise food service staff for cafeteria and concessions.
• Participate in planning, preparing, and administering departmental budgets related to food cost, quality, and sanitation.
• Provide personnel support and supervision.
• Provide technical support in production techniques, cash management, and catering systems.
• Assist in selecting, supervising, training and evaluating staff and student workers.
• Oversee food/beverage prep for group meetings/events; coordinate catering requests; drive as needed.
• Research and recommend new equipment/materials.
