Hearst Magazines seeks a Temporary Sales Director to cover maternity leave on the East Coast, based in New York City and in‑person four days per week. You will manage a key retail account portfolio and cultivate new business opportunities.

You will collaborate with internal teams across digital, social, and programmatic platforms to execute programs, while maintaining strong client relationships and delivering measurable results.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant sales or account management experience.
• Strong understanding of digital, social, programmatic content and affiliate marketing.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with strong organization.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted client relationships and grow business.
• Proactive, entrepreneurial sales mindset with ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel within the territory as needed; New York City office four days/week.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day business and relationships across the full territory account list, with a primary focus on assigned retail accounts.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts throughout the maternity coverage period, ensuring continuity and a high level of service.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key account contacts, developing a deep understanding of their priorities, needs, and business objectives.
• Identify account needs and proactively deliver solutions, information, and support that strengthen partnerships and uncover opportunities for growth.
• Drive new business development by prospecting for new accounts and opportunities across the territory and building relationships with prospective clients.
• Maintain a consistent pipeline of prospective accounts and outreach activity while proactively advancing opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to manage pre- and post-sale execution and deliver effective programs across digital, social, programmatic, co-branded content, and other relevant platforms.
• Communicate accurately and promptly with clients and internal stakeholders while effectively managing multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines.
