Job summary

Ports North in Stamford, CT is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to provide immediate accounting leadership after the departure of the current Controller. The role blends hands-on accounting with team leadership in a transitioning environment, reporting to the VP of Finance.

This hybrid position requires three days on-site, 40 hours per week, with a six-month engagement and potential extension. Compensation is market-rate at $90-$100 per hour on a W2 basis, including medical benefits,

Qualifications

• CPA designation required.
• Substantial accounting leadership experience (Controller/Asst Controller).
• Strong inventory/cost accounting in inventory-intensive business.
• Excellent Excel and ERP proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close with timely reporting.
• Oversee GL, reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, AP/AR.
• Prepare and review journal entries and financial statements.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and audit support.
• Improve processes and internal controls during transition.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to improve inventory accuracy.
