Job summary

VDS Consulting Group is seeking an experienced accounting leader for a 3–9 month contract to stabilize the close and deliver reliable financials.

You will own month-end close, balance sheet integrity, ERP data migration, and audit readiness while leading the accounting team on-site five days a week in CONUS.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in accounting with 3+ years in a controller or assistant controller role.
• Manufacturing environment experience, including inventory and cost accounting.
• Hands‑on ERP experience — you can work in the system, not just review its output.
• CPA strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Month-end and year-end close, including reconciliation and cleanup of legacy issues.
• Balance sheet integrity — inventory, accruals, reserves, intercompany, and anything else that has drifted.
• Accounting system transition or ERP financial module implementation and data migration.
• Internal controls and process documentation.
• Audit preparation and management of the external audit relationship.
• Day-to-day management of the accounting team.
• Support to the CFO or sponsor on reporting, diligence requests, and quality of earnings work.

The mandate

Something broke in the accounting function — a sudden departure, a balance sheet that will not reconcile, a system conversion no one has the bandwidth to run. You step in fast, stabilize the close, clean up what is wrong, and hand back a function that produces reliable numbers.

Speed of deployment matters here. These placements often move within days.

What you’ll own

• Month-end and year-end close, including reconciliation and cleanup of legacy issues
• Balance sheet integrity — inventory, accruals, reserves, intercompany, and anything else that has drifted
• Accounting system transition or ERP financial module implementation and data migration
• Internal controls and process documentation
• Audit preparation and management of the external audit relationship
• Day-to-day management of the accounting team
• Support to the CFO or sponsor on reporting, diligence requests, and quality of earnings work

What you bring

• 10+ years in accounting, with at least 3 in a controller or assistant controller role
• Manufacturing environment experience, including inventory and cost accounting
• A record of cleaning up genuinely messy books, not just maintaining clean ones
• Hands‑on ERP experience — you can work in the system, not just review its output
• CPA strongly preferred
• Ability to start on short notice and be on site five days a week

Strong plus: ERP conversion or migration lead experience; PE portfolio company reporting; audit background; multi‑entity or multi‑site consolidation.
