Job summary

The client is seeking a Process Documentation & Internal Controls Consultant to support process improvement and controls enhancement during a period of organizational growth. This on-site role in Walnut Creek, CA, is expected to last about 6 months with potential extension.

Responsibilities include documenting end-to-end processes, creating process narratives and flows, identifying risks, designing controls, and developing risk matrices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in internal audit, risk advisory, internal controls, business process improvement, or related functions.
• Strong experience documenting business processes, process flows, and risk/control frameworks.
• Working knowledge of internal control frameworks and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Document end-to-end operational and financial processes through walkthroughs with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain process narratives, process flows, and related documentation.
• Identify process risks and evaluate effectiveness of existing controls.
• Design and recommend practical internal controls to address gaps and improve governance.
• Develop risk and control matrices and support remediation implementation.
• Facilitate workshops and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and controls.
• Support audit readiness, finance transformation, and special projects.
• Create templates, training materials, and documentation standards for long-term sustainability.
