Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions seeks an Interim Accounting Manager to lead the accounting function through a critical growth period in the western suburbs of Chicago. The role combines hands-on execution with strategic process improvements and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate has deep public company accounting experience, strong consolidation/elimination skills, and a solid grasp of U.S. GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required and CPA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with public company exposure.
• Experience with consolidations and intercompany eliminations.
• Experience supporting external audits and working with auditors.
• Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities with accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review complex consolidations and intercompany eliminations across multiple entities.
• Support internal and external audit activities with documentation and schedules.
• Assist with financial statement preparation in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
• Support acquisition-related accounting and integration efforts.
• Evaluate and strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and executive leadership.
• Mentor accounting staff on technical accounting matters.
• Assist with ERP system initiatives and process improvements.
