Job summary

Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, MD seeks an INTERDISICIPLINARY ENGINEER (AVIONICS SYSTEMS ENGINEER) in the Missions Systems Group, Avionics Engineering Department, Avionics Systems Engineering Division, and Tactical A/C Systems Branch. He/she will lead avionics initiatives and align cross-organizational teams to deliver complex systems.

The role requires directing architecture, reviews, verification planning, and robust certification to meet airworthiness and cybersecurity

Qualifications

  • Experience leading avionics systems on an aviation platform.
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring technical alignment across units.
  • Experience overseeing system architecture, design reviews, and verification planning.
  • Experience reviewing SOWs and Contract Data Requirements List submittals.
  • Experience directing certification for airworthiness, spectrum, and cybersecurity requirements.

Job description

You will serve as an INTERDISICPLINARY ENGINEER (AVIONICS SYSTEMS ENGINEER) in the Missions Systems Group, Avionics Engineering Department, Avionics Systems Engineering Division, and Tactical A/C Systems Branch of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band (DP-04) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • 1) Managing a wide area of avionics systems on an aviation platform, including leading, mentoring, and guiding engineers supporting these systems;
  • 2) Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring technical alignment across multiple organizational units to manage project schedule, cost, and performance;
  • 3) Overseeing system architecture, leading formal design reviews, and managing the development, documentation, traceability, and verification planning of system and subsystem requirements;
  • 4) Review and developing Statement of Works (SOWs), conducting detailed Technical Evaluations and source selection activities as applicable, and reviewing of Contract Data Requirements List submittals;
  • 5) Directing certification processes to ensure advanced systems meet airworthiness, spectrum, and security/cybersecurity requirements while proactively mitigating risk to prevent fielding delays.
