Job summary

Urban Grid is seeking an experienced Interconnection Engineer to lead interconnection applications for PJM, MISO, SPP, and SERC, and guide projects through the interconnection process. You will act as the SME between the ISO, transmission owner and project teams.

Requirements include a B.S.E.E, a minimum of 3 years in the electric utility industry, and the ability to read substation one-line diagrams. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E) is required.
• Minimum of 3 years in the electric utility industry.
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to translate engineering analysis into executive summaries.
• Experience with interconnection applications for PJM, MISO, SPP, and SERC.
• Familiarity with the FERC OATT and regional interconnection processes.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of interconnection applications for assigned markets (PJM, MISO, SPP, SERC).
• Manage interconnection study processes and assess cost and timeline risks for projects.
• Develop interconnection strategy aligned with company goals.
• Monitor interconnection queue and participate in stakeholder processes.
• Collaborate with Transmission team on network upgrades and congestion evaluation.
• Negotiate interconnection agreements and evaluate Facilities Interconnection Requirements.
