Job summary

Urban Grid Solar Projects, LLC is seeking an experienced Interconnection Engineer to lead the interconnection aspects of solar and storage project development. You will establish interconnection strategy, guide queued projects, and act as SME between RTO/ISO, transmission owners and internal teams.

The role requires a B.S.E.E., strong communication skills, and minimum 3 years in the electric utility sector. Located in Houston, TX with a hybrid work model (4 days in office, Fridays remote).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electric utility industry.
• Ability to read and prepare preliminary substation one-line diagrams.
• Familiarity with substation and system protection design.
• Familiarity with the FERC OATT and regional interconnection processes is preferred.
• Strong work ethic and high work standards.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and adapt to changes.

Responsibilities

• Lead interconnection applications for markets (PJM, MISO, SPP, SERC) or regions including documentation and constraints.
• Manage interconnection study process and assess cost and timeline risks for senior leadership.
• Develop interconnection strategy aligned with company goals.
• Monitor interconnection queue projects and participate in stakeholder processes.
• Work with Transmission team to assess network upgrades and congestion.
• Serve as SME for interconnection processes in assigned regions.
• Negotiate interconnection agreements and evaluate Facilities Interconnection Requirements.
