Job summary

TerraForm Power is seeking an Interconnection Engineer to support siting, interconnection studies, and project construction across US regions. You will estimate interconnection costs, maintain databases, and coordinate with utilities, EPCs, and internal teams to optimize project pipelines with a strategic approach to grid interconnection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience supporting transmission generator design and interconnection processes.
• Familiarity with PJM, ISO NE, CAISO, SPP, MISO and SERC grids and interconnection processes.
• Experience in Greenfield Development, Repowering, and/or adding BESS to projects.
• Broad technical understanding of transmission and cost-benefit analysis of design variants.
• Experience with PSCAD/PSSE/ASPEN is preferred.
• Understanding of NERC and IEEE standards.
• Ability to interpret tariffs and project documentation for technical requirements.
• Impeccable attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Effective communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Identify technically feasible and economical interconnection points.
• Submit interconnection requests to utilities/ISOs/RTOs.
• Prepare power flow, dynamic, and fault models for interconnection requests.
• Interpret study results and negotiate with the utility for economical interconnection solutions.
• Support development items involving interconnection processes, infrastructure, and costs.
• Align project milestones with procurement and construction timelines.
• Ensure compliance with interconnection agreements during construction.
• Maintain TerraForm Power’s Interconnection database.
• Develop and improve standards and tools to guide the interconnection workflow.
• Manage 3rd party consultants as required.
• Assist with preliminary interconnection documentation and models.
