Job summary

The Mob Museum in Las Vegas is seeking an Educator to engage visitors with interactive mediated experiences and provide accurate, engaging educational content across galleries and outreach programs.

You will lead artifact-based presentations, distillery tastings, firearms training simulations, and dynamic tours, while adapting to a flexible schedule to promote understanding of organized crime history and its impact on American society.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in educational programming or guest services in an educational, cultural, instructional or entertainment setting.
• Strong public speaking, conversational, and written communication skills are a must.
• Must meet base-level content and delivery standards within 90 days of commencement.
• Familiarity with firearms is a plus.
• Familiarity with law enforcement, military, use-of-force, or similar training methods is a plus.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends; early morning outreach possible.
• Able to interact with a broad range of ages and cultural backgrounds.
• Proficiency in languages other than English is a plus.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk through exhibit spaces.
• Valid driver’s license required; ability to obtain work cards within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and engage in one-on-one and group interactions with guests to enhance the Museum experience.
• Participate in programs involving artifact-handling and demonstrations of off-display artifacts.
• Maintain an enthusiastic, friendly, service-oriented demeanor.
• Maintain knowledge of organized crime, law enforcement, and Las Vegas history.
• Assist in opening/closing procedures for exhibits and public spaces; restock and refresh equipment.
• Lead mediated experiences such as the Crime Lab, Firearms Training Simulator, and Distillery Tastings.
• Communicate with management about conditions of mediated experiences and guest situations.
• Guide and coach guests through the Firearms Training Simulator and related simulations.
• Deliver energetic tours for groups and presentations in schools and civic groups.
• Demonstrate proper artifact handling and maintain the education collection closet.
• Be flexible with schedule to meet diverse programs; know current exhibits and offerings.
• Assist in safety and emergency procedures as needed.
