Job summary

Agua Caliente Cultural Museum in Palm Springs, CA seeks a Museum Educator to deliver educational tours, workshops, and lessons for diverse learners, and to support the Education and Public Engagement team with planning and day-of execution.

You will guide visitors, assist with school programs and outreach, and help develop gallery content and programs, including weekend and evening offerings. A background in education and a passion for serving families is required.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required; bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience in a formal or informal educational setting.
• Interest in teaching children and families to create a positive museum experience.
• Ability to work with large groups of children, parents, and chaperones.
• Experience with classroom or group management preferred.
• Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other office programs.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.

Responsibilities

• Provides a friendly and welcoming presence for all guests while guiding learning about Agua Caliente history and culture.
• Assists with K-12 object-based museum educational programs for school field trips.
• Facilitates school programs in and out of the Museum.
• Gives input to developing school programs, gallery guides, and educational content.
• Supports Museum programs with Education and Public Engagement staff as needed.
• Facilitates summer camp groups and helps create workshop content.
• Works with staff to support the Museum's mission and initiatives.
• Provides group tours to youth and adults along the Oasis Trail and Education Garden.
