Role Description The Interactive Exhibit Technician | Art, AV & Technology is an on-site role based in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and upkeep of interactive exhibits, including audio, video, lighting, and projection systems. Typical tasks include inspecting installations at opening and closing, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues in real time, and resetting exhibits to ensure they are fully functional for guests. The technician collaborates with the creative and operations teams to implement minor upgrades, support exhibit installations, and document technical procedures and equipment inventories. The role also involves responding to incident reports, coordinating with vendors or external support when needed, and helping ensure a safe, reliable, and engaging visitor experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work with Audio Visual (AV) Systems and Projectors, including setup, calibration, and routine maintenance.
• Strong Troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and connectivity issues, with a calm, solutions-focused approach in live environments.
• Experience in microcontrollers, LEDs, and low voltage wiring systems
• Soldering

• Basic woodworking, painting, and sculpting skills (Theatre/Scenic art) are appreciated

• Practical knowledge of Lighting systems, controls, and basic programming or cueing for exhibits or live spaces.
• Comfort working in a highly technical, creative environment, with basic understanding of networking or control systems considered a plus.
• Ability to work on-site, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and to perform light physical tasks (standing, lifting, moving equipment).
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a customer-service mindset and commitment to a welcoming, inclusive visitor experience.
• Previous experience in museums, themed entertainment, live events, or related AV/technical roles is beneficial; relevant technical certification or coursework is a plus.
