Job summary

School District 27J in Colorado is seeking a paraprofessional to provide direct academic and behavioral support for students with severe disabilities in both special education and general education classrooms. You will modify materials, collect data, and work with teachers and the School Nurse to ensure safety and progress.

The role requires ability to lift up to 100 pounds, follow behavior intervention plans, and participate in trainings.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and staff and student handbooks.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic math, including algebra and geometry.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or able to obtain within 2 months of hire.
• Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.
• Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and supervision for students with disabilities in both special and general education settings.
• Modify academic materials and classroom environment under direction from educators.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow behavior intervention plans and CPI procedures to ensure safety.
• Maintain forms and records as requested by teachers and therapists.
• Communicate observations and progress to the team.
• Attend trainings and student staffings as required.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and follow instruction from the special education team.
