Job summary

North Slope Borough School District is seeking Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with special needs under the supervision of Special Education Teachers. The position is tied to intensive funding and may be reassigned or discontinued if funding changes or students relocate within the district.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and may qualify via an associate’s degree or two years of college, or by passing the Paraprofessional Assessment Test (PAT).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• May qualify with an associate degree or two years of college.
• PAT test or foreign transcript evaluation if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist intensive level multiple disability students during the school day.
• Assist students with physical tasks and personal hygiene including feeding and toileting.
• Support teachers with instructional activities and small-group instruction.
• Tutor students one-on-one and monitor progress.
• Prepare instructional materials and supervise students on buses and in common areas.
