Job summary

Walnut Valley Unified School District is seeking an Education Specialist Support Aide to assist certificated staff in delivering Special Education services to students with intensive needs. You will help implement IEPs, provide targeted instructional support, and manage classroom tasks to maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.

The role includes assisting with medical and hygienic needs, supervising safe activities, and collaborating with teachers to prepare learning materials.

Qualifications

• Assist in implementing IEPs for students
• Provide SAI to students with intensive needs
• Carry out routine clerical tasks and maintain confidential records
• Support safe learning and social behavior in students
• Assist in behavior management using positive reinforcement
• Prepare instructional materials for students with special needs
• Operate instructional aids and computer-assisted instruction tools
• Perform routine first aid when needed
• Monitor students with physical disabilities
• Maintain orderly, positive learning environments
• Assist with students’ physical and hygienic needs including health care
• May administer prescribed medications per district procedures
• Provide one-on-one support in general education settings

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated personnel in IEP implementation.
• Provide SAI to students individually or in small groups.
• Perform clerical tasks: keyboarding, filing, record-keeping.
• Direct students to safe activities and model social behavior.
• Support behavior management and data collection.
• Prepare instructional materials for students with special needs.
• Utilize instructional aids and computer-based programs.
• Deliver basic first aid; assist in medical issues.
• Observe and monitor students with physical disabilities.
• Maintain a clean, positive learning environment.
• Assist with hygienic needs and health care tasks.
• May administer prescribed meds per district policy.
• Support one-on-one instruction in general ed settings.
• Participate in professional development during/after work hours.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
