Job summary

Bay State Community Services is seeking a compassionate Clinician to join our Intensive Home Based Family Services team in Massachusetts. You will provide intensive family therapy and care coordination in-home and in the community, guided by strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches.

Work with children, youth and families, complete assessments, develop treatment plans, and document progress. We offer supervision toward licensure, extensive training, a supportive team, and generous benefits

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree that is license-eligible with an Allied Mental Health licensure board.
  • If not license-eligible, a master degree in one of the following fields with 2 years of experience working with children and families with behavioral health needs: Mental Health, child development, nursing/medicine, education with a Behavioral Health concentration.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of Strength Based Services, Healthy Child Development, Family Systems, Behavior Management, and Safety Planning.
  • Must have strong organizational and clinical communication skills; availability for in-person on-call rotation; some evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a strength-based family-focused team approach.
  • Provide intensive family therapy and robust care coordination in-home and in the community.
  • Strengthen family systems to support youth at home and in the community; prevent hospitalization or higher care.
  • Complete intake, comprehensive assessment, and involve caregiver and youth in treatment planning.
  • Assess safety needs and develop safety plans at onset and ongoing.
  • Complete documentation timely (assessments, plans, progress notes, discharge summaries).
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality; represent the agency appropriately.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, development, and evaluations.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and maintain caseload to meet productivity.

Education

Master’s degree license-eligible → Allied Mental Health licensure board
Master’s degree in Mental Health/Child Development/Related field + 2 years experience

This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician who enjoys working collaboratively with children, youth, and families and wants to provide services where they can have a meaningful impact. Our clinicians work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team while providing intensive, strengths-based and trauma-informed services in home and community settings.

What You Will Be Doing To Make a Difference
  • Work in a strength-based family focused team approach
  • Provide intensive family therapy and robust care coordination/targeted case management in-person in the home and community
  • Strengthening family systems so that the youth can be supported in her/his/their home and community to prevent hospitalization and higher level of care
  • Complete initial intake, comprehensive assessment and include the caregiver and youth in the development of a treatment plan
  • Assess safety needs and develop a safely plan at the onset of care and ongoing
  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner, including assessment, treatment/individualized action plan, progress notes and discharge summary; accurate observation and documentation of the progress, behavior, issues, and performance of persons being served; note any report changes in physical or emotional health of the persons served
  • Exhibit professionalism in all job functions (confidentiality, boundaries, respect for other employees), appropriate representation of the agency at all times (public, families and vendors)
  • Participate actively and positively in staff meetings, supervision, professional development and annual performance evaluations, both internal and external
  • Attend mandatory trainings
  • Maintain necessary caseload to meet consistent productivity expectations
  • The clinician and team will meet with the family 3-5 times per week or more intensely as to prevent the need for admission to a 24-hour level of care
  • Will work collaboratively with other team members, including formal and natural supports in addition to support community referrals and linkages
  • Provide transportation to youth and families

Requirements
  • Master’s degree that is license-eligible with an Allied Mental Health licensure board of the Department of Public Health with appropriate scope
  • In not, license eligible a master degree in one of the following fields with 2 years of experience working with children and families with behavioral health needs: Mental Health (including but not restricted to counseling, addictions, family therapy, social work, psychology, and expressive therapies), child development, nursing/medicine and Education with a concentration in Behavioral Health
  • Must demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of clinical theory and practice, inclusive of:
