Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide curriculum in accordance with College and Career Readiness Standards and English Proficiency Standards, grant guidelines, and LCCC curriculum.
  • Instruct IET and IELCE classes including co-teaching with job-training instructors.
  • Recruit new students into the program and provide state-approved formal assessment and orientation.
  • Collaborate with LCCC staff, instructors and community partners on programming activities.
  • Use the e-data system to maintain data accuracy and generate reports for instructional planning and professional development.
  • Maintain the program website, curriculum map, and lesson plan library.
  • Provide in-house professional development to staff within the program.
  • Recommend and manage resources for instruction and professional development.
  • Coordinate with Careerlink to promote services and provide referrals.
  • Communicate student learning plans with instructors and monitor grant-related goal attainment.
  • Help with grant projects and program development and coordinate program improvement efforts.

Job description

Job Title

The Integrated English Language Civics Education (IELCE)Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the IELCE program that isa program for ESL students to receive civics focused Englishlanguage and IET classes. The coordinator would assist withrecruiting and orientation, curriculum planning, supportingstudents as the move through the program, data tracking andprofessional development. Must be able to travel if needed. Theywould also instruct classes within the program, as assigned by theAssistant Director of Literacy.

Work Schedule

Full-time – Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5p.m. (Position based at LCCC Donley Center, Allentown)

Position contingent upon grant funding sources. This position isreviewed annually for continuation and is strictly contingent uponthe receipt of necessary funding sources and contractualagreements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and provide curriculum in accordance with College andCareer Readiness Standards, The English Proficiency Standards,agency PD plan, grant guidelines, and LCCC developedcurriculum.
  • Instruct IET and IELCE classes which includes co-teaching withjob training instructors.
  • Recruit new students into the program and provide stateapproved formal assessment and orientation.
  • Collaborate with LCCC staff, instructors and community partnerson programming activities.
  • Use the e-data system to make sure data is correct and to usee-data reports for instructional planning and professionaldevelopment activities.
  • Maintain the program website, curriculum map, and lesson planlibrary.
  • Provide in-house professional development to all staff workingwithin the program.
  • Recommend for purchase and manage resources both forinstruction and for professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with and maintain a presence at the Careerlink toprovide and promote services.
  • Work with instructors to follow a system for referral andcommunicate on student learning plans.
  • Monitor goal attainment related to the grant specifications andcareer pathways model.
  • Provide input on grant projects and program development.
  • Participate with program director to create and maintain theprogram improvement requirements and communicate with the stateprofessional development system.
  • Work with program director and state professional developmentsystem to coordinate program improvement and professionaldevelopment activities for staff.
  • Assist the staff in the use of the online professionaldevelopment tracking system.
  • Attend required state and program meetings andconferences.
  • Assure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or appropriate field from anaccredited institution.
Certifications
  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PAChild Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
Work Experience
  • Must have experience working with diverse populations.
  • Must have experience in program administration.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Experience with Professional Development training, coaching,recruiting, coordination, needs assessment and systemplanning.
  • Must possess a high level of the following work skills andbehaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer services andcommitment to continuous professional growth in skills andknowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Teaching certification, ESL certification and/or teachingexperience with adults.
  • Bi-lingual
Physical Demands
  • Ability to effectively communicate, perceive, and exchangeinformation with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls usinghands, arms, or adaptive equipment.
  • Ability to safely lift, transport, or move objects up to 15 lbsregularly and up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Vision capabilities sufficient to view screens, read printedmaterials, and observe work environments (with or without assistivedevices).
