Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an Integrated Design Director for our Newport Beach office. You will lead the design process across multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with design-build and design-assist partners to deliver coordinated, high-quality documents supporting project goals.

You will drive BIM/VDC strategies, oversee design document control, and ensure compliance with codes while coordinating with owners and vendors. Strong leadership and field experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience coordinating design disciplines.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) preferred.
• Proven experience in design phase of projects.
• Hands-on field experience in design and construction.
• Affiliations with professional organizations encouraged (AIA/CSI/ASHRAE/DBIA).
• Proficiency with VDC and design-tools (Revit/Navisworks/Bluebeam/Office).

Responsibilities

• Interface with Project teams to align design deliverables with schedule and quality.
• Identify decision-makers and obtain client direction for design decisions.
• Coordinate design packaging strategies with the Project team.
• Manage Design Review process with design team and client.
• Oversee design document control using 3D/2D systems (cloud-based).
• Coordinate BIM execution plans with VDC Manager.
• Coordinate with owner stakeholders and vendors to incorporate requirements.
• Ensure compliance with McCarthy Quality program and relevant codes.
