Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. seeks a Design Manager to guide design delivery on complex construction projects in Southern California.

You will lead design teams, coordinate with owners, consultants and subcontractors, and ensure schedules, budgets, and quality meet project goals. The role requires a minimum of 10 years in design management, a BS in Engineering or Architecture, and strong BIM proficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in management coordinating design disciplines or project management on design-build or collaborative delivery methods.
• BS in Engineering or Architecture; MS preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Excellent facilitation capabilities.
• Hands-on field experience in design and construction.
• Professional Engineer or Registered Architect preferred.
• Strong BIM knowledge and proficiency in BIM software.
• History of affiliations with professional organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define, schedule and monitor design deliverables on projects including design build or other delivery methods.
• Coordinate design documents, quality, and milestones with project teams.
• Manage design RFIs and document control.
• Develop and implement BIM workflows and interfaces with the McCarthy team.
• Coordinate with Owner vendors and design firms to ensure project requirements are met.
• Lead Value Analysis sessions and monitor budgets against design goals.
• Ensure compliance with building codes and project specifications.
