Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota is seeking an Integrated Construction Technology (VDC) Specialist to lead BIM and VDC efforts on infrastructure projects.

You will build, review, and coordinate 3D/4D models, collaborate with project teams, and help integrate VDC tools into design and construction workflows. This role offers growth through the PCL College of Construction and a competitive salary package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, diploma or 2-year certificate in buildings-industry related discipline (AEC, civil, architectural).
• 2 to 4 years of construction-related experience, including 1 to 2 years of VDC experience.
• Understanding of construction sequences and building processes.
• Awareness of implementing construction technology in projects.
• Ability to provide project model management and BIM coordination.
• Ability to read and translate 2D drawings into 3D/4D BIM content with supervision.
• Proficiency in BIM tools: Revit, Navisworks, Civil3D; familiarity with 4D scheduling tools.
• Exposure to Adobe Creative Suite; strong markups and visualization skills.
• Ability to read construction models and communicate scope clearly.
• Experience creating and communicating markups on drawings and RFIs.
• Ability to lead trade coordination meetings and manage deliverables.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer-service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Builds, reviews, or validates virtual models from plans and elevations.
• Develops construction-site logistics models in collaboration with project teams.
• Coordinates trade detailing and design deliverables across disciplines.
• Works with estimating to review model compliance and validation.
• Promotes adoption of VDC tools and coordinates BIM execution with the project team.

Education

Bachelor's degree / diploma / 2-year certificate in buildings-industry related discipline (AEC, civil, architectural)

2–4 years construction-related experience with 1–2 years VDC

Understanding of construction sequences

Awareness of implementing construction technology

Project model management

Read/translate 2D drawings to BIM (3D/4D)

Here’s how an Integrated Construction Technology (VDC) Specfor PCL Construction Services, Inc. within Minneapolis contributes to our team:

• Builds, reviews, or validates virtual models from plans, specifications, and elevations.
• Collaborates with the project team with the development of construction-site logistics models.
• Supervises the coordination and management of the trade detailing and design deliverables.
• During the pursuit stage, works with the project team to review and recommend scopes that VDC tools and processes can be incorporated into the project.
• Collaborates with estimating on model compliance checking and validation.
• Collaborates with the Integrated Construction Services Manager with the review of VDC / technology contract language and BIM execution plan.
• Facilitates the trade partner model coordination process and reports to the project management team, as required.
• Aggregates and keeps multidiscipline construction models current, ensuring that project modeling standards are adhered to.
• Collaborates with the Integrated Construction Services Manager on kickoff meeting at project start-up.
• Creates and coordinates BIM issue-related RFIs with the project team.
• Promotes the use of virtual construction tools and processes to project staff.
• Shares new technologies with project teams and seeks to drive adoption of PCL technologies through operational processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelors' degree, diploma, or 2-year certificate in a buildings-industry related discipline (e.g., architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), civil, architectural).
• 2 to 4 years of construction-related experience, including 1 to 2 years of Virtual Design and Construction-related experience.
• Understanding of construction sequences.
• Awareness of implementing construction technology.
• Ability to provide project model management. Knowledge of the building construction process and the various building components involved at each stage of construction.
• Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings and specifications and translate 2D drawings and specifications into a 3D/4D Building Information Model with direct supervision.
• Proficient in 3D modeling software (such as Revit, Navisworks, Civil3D, etc) and the ability to create content in VDC software.
• Exposure to 4D scheduling software (such as Synchro and cmBuilder) and planning tools.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative suite applications (Photoshop, Premiere Photo, After Effects, etc) is a plus
• Ability to read the construction model and understand the scope.
• Ability to create and communicate markups on construction drawings.
• Ability to start the request for information documentation process.
• Ability to assist with trade partner deliverables and scope and coordinate multiple trade partner models.
• Ability to lead trade coordination meetings and manage and communicate trade partner deliverables and scope.
• Strong and clear communication and organizational skills and a customer service mindset.
  

The estimated salary range for this role is$82,000 - $95,000,based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
