Job summary

Positive Education Program is seeking an Intake Specialist to conduct comprehensive assessments for OhioRISE and IHBT programs, coordinating referrals with the Intake Manager and providing crisis support in the field.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree with a preference for mental health licensure, and the ability to work in a flexible hybrid setting with travel to community sites. Training and supervision are provided to support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required with experience in social work, counseling, psychology, mental health or related field.
• Mental health licensure preferred (LSW, LPC, MFT or other related field).
• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses, symptomotology and treatment programming for children/youth.
• Experience working with behaviorally/emotionally challenged children/youth.
• Communicate accurately and effectively, both written and orally.
• Demonstrate effective decision-making skills and utilize good judgment.
• Knowledge of mental health services in the community.
• Work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments for OhioRISE care coordination program. Conduct mental health assessments for the IHBT program. Administer standardized measures as appropriate to licensure.
• Work cooperatively with the Intake Manager to schedule and process referrals for OhioRISE and IHBT programs.
• Availability for emergency or short-notice response to assessment requests.
• On-call crisis support for clients assigned to Intake Specialist.
• Face-to-face crisis support and intervention with kids and families in the community.
• Obtain CANS certification for OhioRISE and IHBT eligibility; renew annually; must obtain within 30 days.
• Participate in trainings including First Aid, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, Standards of Practice.
• Participate in supervision, staff development, meetings as scheduled.
• Work respectfully with a culturally diverse population and multidisciplinary teams.
• Complete assigned duties competently within time frames.
• Utilize safe work practices for self and others.
• Demonstrate word processing and program navigation skills.
• Present professionally as a representative of the agency and profession.
• Align practice with agency mission and trauma-informed models.
• Adhere to PEP and ESC policies; perform other duties as assigned by Intake Manager.

Job purpose

Engage in comprehensive assessment of the referred child's ecology to determine family and system-identified strengths, needs, resources, stressors, and sources of support, to be used in care planning.

Flexible hybrid work model, which includes meeting clients in a community- or home-based setting and choice to work from home or dedicated office space.
Monday through Friday position with flexible hours based on clients' needs.

Duties and responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments for OhioRISE care coordination program. Conduct mental health assessments for the Intensive Home-Based Treatment (IHBT) program. Administer certain standardized measures, appropriate to employee's licensure and certifications.
• Work cooperatively with the Intake Manager to schedule and process all referrals to Connections for the OhioRISE care coordination and IHBT programs.
• Availability for emergency or short-notice response to requests for assessment.
• On-call crisis support for Connections' clients assigned to Intake Specialist.
• Face-to-face crisis support and intervention with kids and families while in the community.
• Obtain Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) certification for OhioRISE care coordination and IHBT eligibility. Certification needs to be renewed annually. Must obtain within first 30 days of employment.
• Participate (and pass requirements where applicable) in all required trainings, including but not limited to; First Aid, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Standards of Practice.
• Participate in administrative and clinical supervision as requested by supervisor, staff development activities, team meetings, and staff meetings as scheduled or assigned.
• Ability to work respectfully with a culturally diverse population of clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Complete assigned duties competently and within expected time frames.
• Utilize safe work practices for self and others.
• Demonstrate word processing skills and program navigation skills.
• As a representative of the agency and profession, present self with decorum and in dress that is appropriate to the day's activities.
• Align practice and work with the agency mission, vision, guiding principles, the trauma-informed Sanctuary Model®, the Neurosequential Model and the Re-ED philosophy.
• Adhere to PEP and ESC policies and procedures, as applicable.
