Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a Supervisor of Intake & Referral at Southeast Behavioral Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. You will lead the Intake & Referral team, conduct psychiatric assessments, and coordinate crisis interventions and referrals to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role requires a Master’s degree (social work/psychology/mental health or nursing), 5+ years of clinical experience, and appropriate licensure, with strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field; nursing degree also considered.
• Minimum five years of direct clinical experience in psychiatric/mental health settings preferred.
• Licensure: RN, LCSW, LMSW, LPC or applicable license; crisis intervention and CPR certifications required.
• Strong management and communication skills; ability to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise intake activities and direct a staff of Assessment & Intake Counselors.
• Perform psychiatric assessments, crisis intervention, and make referrals.
• Coordinate with medical staff, department heads and case managers.
• Ensure timely completion of Core Measures (HBIPS) abstractions for admissions.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Supervisor of Intake & Referral is accountable for assisting with the supervision and direction of the intake activities at the facility. As a clinician, this position provides direction to a staff of Assessment & Intake Counselors in the provision of psychiatric assessment services, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations, functions as a liaison with other hospital intake departments. Monitors and assures timely completion of the Core Measures (HBIPS) Abstraction Tool for all admissions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field required. Will also consider candidates that possess agraduation from an accredited program of professional nursing.

Experience:A minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable. Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Must have strong management skills with ability to communicate effectively with staff, ensuring proper employee performance management.

Licensure:R.N., L.C.S.W., L.M.S.W., LPC or applicable license.

Additional Requirements: Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Handle with Care certification, Verbal De-escalation certification and CPR.
