Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. and its Southeast Behavioral Hospital are seeking an Intake Assessor to perform telephonic and in-person risk assessments, coordinating referrals and admissions for patients in the Cape Girardeau area.

The role supports physicians in determining the appropriate level of care while interfacing with families, referral sources, and the treatment team. Qualified candidates have a nursing or social work background, 2–3 years in behavioral health or substance abuse

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or social work; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 2–3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs; intake/admissions and managed care preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice by the Missouri State Board of Nursing or a Social Work Licensure.
• CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment; competency exam on hire.
• May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist physician in identifying appropriate level of care.
• Coordinate referral and intake process and facilitate admission.
• Maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff.
• Work with Business Office on patient financial data and verification; assist with insurance prior authorizations as needed.
• Collaborate with UR Department for certification of patients admitted.
