Job summary

Southeast Behavioral Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO, seeks an Intake RN to provide telephonic and in-person risk assessments to guide the appropriate level of care. You will coordinate referrals, admissions, and communicate with families, patients and staff.

Under supervision of the Intake Director, you’ll work with the Business Office for insurance verification and with the UR Department for certification of admissions, with opportunities for flexible hours, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2–3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs, including intake/admissions experience preferred.
• Licensed to practice by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
• CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment; competency exam may be required; flexible hours possible.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Intake RN, under the supervision of the Intake Director, provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake RN is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Intake RN works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed, as well as with the UR Department for the certification of patients admitted.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience: 2-3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs, including experience in intake/admissions and managed care preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements: CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment prior to assisting in a restraining procedure. Must be able to pass a competency exam for the area upon hire. May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, and overtime.
