Job summary

The Salvation Army in Grand Rapids is seeking an Intake Specialist to assess households in housing crises and connect them with appropriate resources. You will conduct assessments, determine eligibility, and refer to housing programs within the community.

Strong customer service, confidentiality, and cultural awareness are essential. Experience with HMIS and bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, with opportunities for advanced caseworker training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and relevant experience.
• Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred.
• Experience with social services or housing resources preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and provide excellent customer service.
• Assess housing needs and determine eligibility for programs.
• Enter participant data into HMIS accurately.
• Refer households to housing resources and community services.
• Maintain confidentiality and navigate Coordinated Entry procedures.
• Collaborate with partners to support referrals and follow-up.
