Job summary

Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital seeks an Intake Coordinator to be the first contact for new patients. You guide them through the initial visit, verify records, and ensure intake forms are complete.

You will work with physicians and nursing staff, and follow EMTALA/COBRA rules to protect patient rights. Greet patients, help them feel safe, check insurance details, collect information, and maintain a calm, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of experience in healthcare or customer service required.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good computer skills and attention to detail.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries from persons seeking mental health care or information about mental health-related services.
• Greet new patients and help them feel safe.
• Check patient insurance details and benefits.
• Collect information and fill out intake forms.
• Maintain a safe, orderly and therapeutic environment for all patients.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and health professional affiliates, healthcare facilities, and nursing staff.
• Maintain knowledge of EMTALA/COBRA guidelines and abuse/neglect reporting.
