Hospice Home Care is seeking an Intake Coordinator to manage insurance claims evaluation, processing, and verification of eligibility to ensure timely preauthorization and referrals for hospice services. You will coordinate communication with insurers, patients, and providers, maintain accurate data, and support HIPAA-compliant workflows.

The role emphasizes accuracy, independent work within a team, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED; associates preferred.
  • Minimum of one year in medical billing or medical insurance verification in hospice.
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial carriers.
  • Ability to handle confidential information; self-starter and team player.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload; meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient in MS Office.

  • Prompt and accurate communication with insurance companies, patients, providers, and other staff
  • Review claims to ensure reimbursement requirements are met
  • Verification of patient information
  • Documentation of patient responsibility
  • Accurate keying of data
  • Update accounts as necessary
  • Research and follow-up on denials
  • Scan, upload, and email documents as needed to complete processes
  • Maintain patient information in accordance with HIPPA and company standards
  • Make recommendations for resolution
  • Cross-train in and perform other functions within the department as needed

  • Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Strong knowledge of health insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial carriers
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Self-starter that is comfortable working independently as well as a part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload effectively, ensuring completion of task within specified timeframes
  • Ability to successfully handle workflow demands
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
