Job summary

Acadia Healthcare is seeking an Admissions Specialist to manage the admission and registration of patients into the facility and to maintain communications between the organization and patient referrals and their families.

The role requires handling incoming referrals, data collection, coordinating with referral sources, and ensuring all admission documentation is accurate and complete. A healthcare admissions background is preferred, with a college degree often desired.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in healthcare admissions, preferably in the mental health or substance abuse field.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to inbound referrals via phone, fax, or webform to assist clients and families seeking treatment.
  • Review prospective admissions against admission criteria, policies, and procedures.
  • Initiate contact to gather clinical and demographic data from patients and sources.
  • Respond promptly to inquiry calls and schedule assessments.
  • Assist prospective patients and families in seeking treatment.
  • Coordinate with referral sources and arrange transportation for patients.
  • Maintain all documentation involved with the admissions process.

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

TheAdmissionsSpecialistwill be primarily responsible for the admission and/or registration of patients into the facility andmaintainingcommunications between the organization and thepatientreferralsand family.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Promptly respond to inbound referrals via phone, fax, webform, etc. toassistclients and theirfamily’swho are seeking treatment.
  • Review prospective admissions against approved admission criteria, policies, and procedures.
  • Initiate contact to gatherrequiredclinical and demographic data frompatientand other sources.
  • Respond promptly to inquiry calls.
  • Schedule assessments.
  • Assistprospective patients and significant others in seeking treatment.
  • Refer inquiries to other agencies and community resources when notappropriate forfacilityassistanceor admission.
  • Coordinate with referral sources.
  • Coordinate transportation arrangements for patients.
  • Responsible formaintainingall thedocumentation involved with the admissions process.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degreepreferred
  • Two years’ experience in healthcare admissions, preferably in the mental health or substance abuse field.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Certified AddictionsCounselor (CAC); Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDS) or Certified Employee Assistance Program (CEAP) certification preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certificationrequired(training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may berequiredbased on state or facility.
