Job summary

Montgomery County (PA) is seeking a dedicated caseworker to join the Child Welfare team. The role provides child protective, placement and permanency services, with responsibilities across home-based family assessments, emergency response, and court cooperation.

Work involves managing caseloads, documenting in the county system, coordinating with agencies, complying with federal and state regulations, and traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a Caseworker Trainee or a CWEB Program Casework Intern completed within 60 days of graduation or after graduation and upon successful internship completion.
• Bachelor of Social Work degree, or a bachelor’s degree including, or supplemented by, 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related coursework, and 1 year of professional social casework experience.
• Proficiency with computer skills and use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Provide child protective, placement and permanency casework services in family-focused settings.
• Perform professional assessments of child risk, safety, and family strengths and problems.
• Coordinate emergency responses, in-home protective services, and court-related permanency actions.
• Manage caseloads and records in the automated case management system, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Maintain scheduling flexibility and travel as needed for home visits and court appearances.
