Job Title: Intake Attorney (Immigration)

Job Overview:

A law firm located in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking a motivated Immigration Intake Attorney to serve as the initial legal contact for incoming clients. This attorney will play a pivotal role in guiding potential clients through the intake process, determining eligibility and strategic legal pathways, and overseeing intake operations. The position is ideal for an attorney with experience in immigration law who thrives in a leadership role and enjoys direct interaction with clients and team members.

Duties:
  1. Conduct initial legal consultations with prospective clients and assess viable immigration strategies.
  2. Supervise and provide direction to intake team members, including paralegals and contract professionals.
  3. Ensure intake documentation, questionnaires, and engagement scopes are thoroughly completed and accurate.
  4. Provide valuable summaries to the intake review committee for assessment of new matters.
  5. Assign new client matters and coordinate with relevant team members for smooth onboarding.
  6. Support hiring initiatives for the legal intake department.
  7. Explain immigration processes and legal remedies to clients and intake staff in an accessible manner.
  8. Provide insight on a range of immigration matters, such as family-based petitions and removal defense.
  9. Occasionally review application packets and advise on adjustments or improvements.
  10. Assist, when needed, with preparing clients for hearings and interviews.
  11. Perform legal research and evaluate eligibility for immigration benefits.
  12. Draft legal briefs and supporting documentation for immigration cases when required.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum of 3 years of focused experience in U.S. immigration law.
  2. Fluent in both English and Spanish.
  3. Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  4. Previous exposure to intake or client onboarding operations is advantageous.
  5. Ability to manage high client volume while maintaining the quality of service.
  6. Proven experience in removal defense, family petitions, humanitarian relief, and naturalization applications.
  7. Familiarity with legal case management tools is preferred.
  8. Aptitude for identifying issues and proactively offering solutions.
Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

  3. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
