Job summary

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health seeks an Intake Specialist in our Hamilton office to coordinate referrals, verify insurance, schedule appointments, and support the intake process from start to finish. You will be a key connection point for children, families, adults, referral partners, and clinical teams.

The role also involves maintaining accurate records in EHR, communicating with staff, and ensuring timely access to behavioral health services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience handling confidential information in a professional setting.
• 3+ years in healthcare/behavioral health or related setting preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification, referrals, scheduling, or intake processes.
• Knowledge of scheduling software and electronic documentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and process referrals from providers, hospitals, schools, and other sources.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, families, providers, and partners through intake and referral.
• Open new client records and maintain demographic, insurance, and payer data in EHR.
• Verify insurance coverage and update payer information for service authorization and billing.
• Schedule intake, medication management, and other clinical appointments.
• Maintain referral logs and intake documentation for compliance and accuracy.
• Manage incoming referral documents, faxes, authorizations, and releases of information.
• Communicate updates and needs to clinical and administrative staff.
• Answer office and referral lines professionally and compassionately.
• Assist with scheduling, check-in, and co-pay collection when applicable.
• Guide front desk staff on insurance, referrals, and intake procedures.
• Provide coverage at other agency locations as needed and support daily operations.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality of all client information.
