Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. is seeking an Insurance Verifier with strong written and verbal communication to interact with physicians' offices and patients.

The role focuses on verifying benefits and calculating patient responsibility, and arranging payments as needed. The position requires accuracy, ability to handle interruptions, and familiarity with medical terminology and basic data entry in patient accounting software such as HST.

Qualifications

• High School graduate.
• Minimum of one year of experience in business office activities within a healthcare environment.
• Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communications in English for contacting payors, patients, and co-workers.
• Demonstrated computer skills in using word processing, integrated database, and understanding of mathematical calculations and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Ensures insurance verification is completed accurately, and within a minimum of three days prior to date of service.
• Data entry is accurate and completed in patient accounting software (HST).
• Makes sure authorization forms are in the medical record prior to date of service.
• Contacts patients to communicate patient responsibility due on the date of service.
• Verifies a minimum of thirty-five accounts daily.
• Assures Health Stream education is up to date and completed prior to annual evaluation.
• Participates in regular departmental staff meetings and facility-wide meetings.
• Always on time for work and attendance is within company policy guidelines.
• Willingness to assist in orientation of new staff and ensuring a high level of employee satisfaction and retention.

Job description

Insurance Verifier will possess excellent written and verbal skills and be in communications with physicians offices and patients. Responsibilities will include the verification of benefits and coverages of insurance plans specific to the patient with the ability to calculate an estimated responsibility. Contact will be made with patients to make payment arrangements for upcoming procedures. Verifier will also work closely with other members of the facility in order to source the most accurate information available for all cases to be worked.

Job Summary

Ability to communicate effectively with insurance payors, Center's staff, physicians and their staff, patients and their families. Must be able to verify insurance in a timely manner. Ability to handle frequent interruptions that result in having to re-evaluate priorities. Keyboarding, medical terminology and detail oriented.
