Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system serving a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. We seek an Insurance Verification Specialist to verify patients’ insurance details and ensure correct authorizations are in place.

You will collaborate with physicians, payers, and care teams to support accurate billing and scheduling. The role emphasizes strong customer service, accurate documentation, and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; HR may accept relevant, directly related professional experience in lieu of required education.
• 1 year of experience in reception, customer service, and/or record keeping
• Associate degree preferred in medical terminology or health care management

Responsibilities

• Ensures that all patients receiving services at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital have been assigned the correct insurance plan, policy number, and authorization number.
• Utilizes excellent customer service skills when working with physician offices, third party payers, and patients.
• Communicates financial and insurance information to Case Management, Utilization Management, and Financial Counseling staff members (when appropriate).
• Performs these functions in accordance with the facility's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.
