Job summary

Cook Children’s Health Care System is seeking an Insurance Specialist/Receptionist to manage patient flow, answer calls, and schedule visits at Heritage Primary Care. You will handle demographics data entry, posting charges and payments, and assist with insurance verification and claims processing.

The role requires at least a high school diploma, 2 years in a medical office, knowledge of insurance plans, and Epic experience preferred. This is an on-site, full-time position in Texas.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate required.
  • Understanding of diversified insurance plans and managed care.
  • Knowledge of coding and medical terminology.
  • Two years of Epic experience and insurance/referral verification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient flow and answer phones promptly and courteously.
  • Schedule appointments for patients.
  • Enter patient demographics and post charges, payments, and adjustments as required.
  • Obtain insurance verification and processing/refollow of insurance claims and collections.

Location:Heritage Trace Primary CareDepartment:Heritage Primary CareShift:First Shift (United States of America)Standard Weekly Hours:40Summary:The Insurance Specialist/Receptionist is responsible for overseeing patient flow, answering phones promptly and courteously and scheduling appointments. May be responsible for data entry of patient demographics, posting of charges, payments and adjustments as required in the clinic setting. Other responsibilities may include obtaining insurance verification, referral authorization, processing and follow-up of insurance claims and collections as required. Expected to have knowledge of all front office procedures and adhere to all CCPN policies and procedures.Education & Experience:High school graduate or equivalent.At least two years of experience in a medical office setting.Understanding of diversified insurance plans and Managed Care environment.
