Job summary

The Ohio Department of Insurance is seeking an Insurance Examiner/Analyst 1 in Columbus, OH to monitor solvency and regulatory compliance of insurance entities. You will analyze financial statements, review data, and determine appropriate actions while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include conducting examinations, interviewing personnel, writing reports, and traveling as needed within Ohio.

Qualifications

• Completion of undergraduate core program in accounting, internal auditing, insurance, economics, or finance; must provide own transportation, valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Performs in-house and on-site financial examinations and analyses of insurers to determine solvency.
• Ensures compliance with state insurance laws and rules.
• Follows examination procedures (computer/manual).
• Interviews company personnel regarding accounting methodology, risks to the insurer, internal controls, and other matters.
• Writes preliminary reports of findings and assists in preparation of final report of examinations.
• Limited travel to companies within and outside state of Ohio.
