Job summary

The Illinois Department of Insurance is seeking to hire an Insurance Performance Examiner Trainee in the Market Conduct Division. This position participates in an agency sponsored training program, for up to twelve months, to develop knowledge and practical skills related to examining insurance company operations and reporting findings.

The incumbent travels to examination sites as needed to complete assignments.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree with coursework in insurance, finance, statistics, accounting, economics, business administration or a related field.
• Prefers basic knowledge of Illinois Insurance Code and related laws and regulations.
• Prefers one year of experience gathering, evaluating, analyzing, and documenting examination data.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, participates in examination and evaluation of insurance company rates, rating schedules, programs and procedures for compliance with Illinois Insurance Code.
• Travels to assigned examination sites for on-site reviews as needed and to meet operational needs.
• Assists in preparing examination reports and final documentation for review.
