Job summary

The Illinois Department of Insurance seeks an Insurance Performance Examiner Trainee for the Market Conduct Division. The twelve-month agency-sponsored training program develops skills in examining rates, procedures, and compliance with the Illinois Insurance Code.

The trainee will travel in-state and out-of-state to examination sites, review practices, contribute to examination reports, and complete required training under supervision of higher-level examiners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in insurance, finance, statistics, accounting, economics, or business administration.
• Elementary knowledge of underwriting and/or claims practices and related health insurance business practices.
• Basic knowledge of the Illinois Insurance Code and federal and state insurance laws, rules and regulations.
• One year of experience gathering, evaluating, analyzing, and documenting examination data.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Ability to pass background check and travel with overnight stays as needed.
