Job summary

Adventist Health Sonora is seeking a Specialist in Patient Access to serve as SME for insurance questions, manage patient responsibility estimates, assist with financial assistance applications, and coordinate with Medicaid eligibility. This role provides cross coverage to other sites and supports accurate billing and payments.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent is required.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination is preferred.
• Five years' patient access experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes accurate and timely benefit review and determination of patient financial liability including eligibility for charity care.
• Collects expected patient responsibility or arranges payments to collect that amount.
• Educates patient on insurance benefits, available payment options, and financial assistance programs.
• Assists with Medicaid eligibility or government assistance programs as applicable.
• Provides cross coverage and training for other team members as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
