Job summary

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, part of the Optum family, is seeking an Insurance Follow-Up Representative to support physician billing and third-party receivables. You will research accounts using the EHR and multiple payer portals, refile or appeal claims, and track status of unresolved accounts.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED from an accredited program.
• 3+ years in health care billing/collection or relevant health care setting using an accounting/health care computer system.
• Working knowledge of major third-party payers and their websites.
• Medical Terminology, CPT & ICD coding application.
• Basic PC and Internet literacy.
• Ability to interpret EOBs and physician billing statements.
• Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal communication, orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Bill and collect third- party accounts using medical software, the EHR, and payer portals.
• Maintain inventory of over $1M in insurance receivables.
• Initiate contacts and negotiate resolutions with internal and external parties.
• Analyze, audit, problem solve, and reconcile accounts.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state guidelines and department policies.
• Demonstrate dependability and ability to work independently.
• Communicate with external contacts and patients about financial liability and payments.
• Explain benefits and set up payments or payment plans.
