Distinct | North America in New York City seeks a Mid-Level Insurance Defense Associate to join a growing practice. The role offers meaningful responsibility, hands-on litigation exposure, and close collaboration with experienced partners on sophisticated matters.

You will handle a varied caseload including general, premises, product liability, and construction-related defense matters, with opportunities for court appearances, depositions, motions, mediations, and trial prep.

Qualifications

• Must have JD from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to the New York Bar.
• 3–5 years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Deposition and court appearance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and legal memoranda.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Handle court appearances, hearings, and mediations.
• Provide clear and timely updates to clients and insurance carriers.

Mid-Level Insurance Defense Associate | New York City

$140,000–$175,000 Base + Bonus

I’m working with a well-established New York City defense law firm that is looking to add a Mid-Level Insurance Defense Associate to its growing team.

This is a great opportunity for an attorney with 3–5 years of insurance defense litigation experience who is looking for meaningful responsibility, hands‑on litigation exposure, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners on sophisticated matters.

The Role

You’ll handle a varied caseload involving matters such as general liability, premises liability, product liability, construction accidents, and other insurance defense litigation. The position offers substantial hands‑on experience, including court appearances, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and legal memoranda
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Handle court appearances, hearings, and mediations
• Provide clear and timely updates to clients and insurance carriers
• Work closely with partners on case strategy and trial preparation

What We’re Looking For
