Job summary

Orion Placement in New York seeks an experienced insurance defense attorney to handle matters from start to resolution. 2+ years of insurance defense litigation, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to manage case loads are essential.

You will draft pleadings, handle depositions, and report to clients and carriers while delivering practical advocacy. This hybrid role offers a true work-life balance with 2 days in the NYC office and 3 days remote, plus collaboration with a seasoned

Qualifications

• Active New York Bar license in good standing.
• 2+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case-management skills.
• Litigation experience involving depositions, motion practice, discovery, and client or carrier reporting preferred.
• Experience with general liability, commercial auto, trucking, casualty, or coverage matters is highly valued.
• New Jersey Bar admission is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle insurance defense litigation matters from initial assignment through resolution.
• Develop case strategy, investigate claims, evaluate exposure, and move matters efficiently toward favorable outcomes.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, dispositive motions, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Prepare for and take depositions, attend court appearances, and participate in motion practice.
• Maintain clear, timely reporting and communication with insurance carriers and clients.
• Manage deadlines, discovery, case files, and competing priorities while maintaining excellent client service.
• Collaborate with partners and other attorneys while taking increasing ownership of your own matters.

$120,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year

Note
