Unknown Firm in Southern California seeks an Associate Attorney to manage a high-volume defense docket across general liability, premises liability, auto and trucking matters.

You will own files early, interact directly with carriers, and handle appearances in state and federal courts, with substantial responsibility from day one.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active California bar license.
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience; insurance defense or general liability preferred.
• Strong writing ability and efficient work product under deadlines.

Responsabilités

• Manage an active caseload from intake through resolution in defense matters.
• Handle all litigation phases: written discovery, depositions, motions, and trial prep.
• Draft pleadings, discovery responses, and reports for carrier clients.
• Appear in California state and federal court for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
• Communicate with adjusters and carrier reps on strategy and status.
• Evaluate liability and damages to support reserving and settlements.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys while independently managing files.

We’re partnering with a well-established insurance defense practice in Southern California to identify their next Associate Attorney. This firm represents carriers and self-insured businesses across a steady, high-volume caseload and is looking for someone who can take on a docket and run with it, not someone who needs months of hand-holding to get up to speed.

About the Role

The team defends insurers and policyholders in general liability, premises liability, auto and trucking, products liability, and professional liability matters, with regular appearances in California state and federal court. This is a fast-paced practice where associates get real file ownership early, direct carrier contact, and steady courtroom reps. You won’t be waiting for your first deposition.

Responsibilities

• Manage an active caseload of defense matters from intake through resolution
• Handle all phases of litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, dispositive motions, and trial preparation
• Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and status and evaluation reports for carrier clients
• Appear in California state and federal court for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials
• Communicate directly with adjusters and carrier representatives on case strategy and status
• Evaluate liability and damages exposure to support reserving and settlement decisions
• Work with senior attorneys on case strategy while managing your own files independently

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; active California bar license
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience; insurance defense or general liability background strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of general liability, premises liability, and/or auto or trucking defense
• Comfortable carrying a high-volume caseload with competing deadlines
• Strong legal writing and the ability to produce clean, efficient work product under time pressure
• Court and deposition experience strongly preferred
