Insurance Defense Associate | Hybrid, Irvine | $150,000 to $200,000

Tuesday to Thursday in the office, Monday and Friday at home, and if you live miles from the nearest of their California offices they'll talk to you about remote instead. That's how it works at this one.

The cases are the kind a carrier sends over. Somebody slips on a property, a truck and a car meet on the freeway, a product fails and there's a wrongful death claim behind it. They're your files and you run them.

What's on the desk:

• Pleadings, written discovery and the summary judgment motion that might end it early


• Depositions of plaintiffs, treating doctors and the occasional accident reconstructionist who's very sure of themselves


• Mediations and settlement conferences, some in person and some on a screen


• Calls with adjusters who mainly want to know what it'll cost and when it'll be over


• Trial prep alongside the senior attorneys

What I'd tell a friend about this one is the size of it. Big enough to have steady work coming in from carriers and small enough to still feel friendly, and the California attorneys work across the offices so you get to know people outside your own hallway.
