Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking an Insurance Coverage/Insurance Litigation Associate in its San Francisco office. The role focuses on handling insurance coverage and coverage litigation matters for California and US cases with domestic and foreign insurers.

The position offers a flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement and requires 2–8 years of defense litigation experience plus 1+ years in coverage litigation. JL d from ABA-accredited school and CA bar admission are required.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in the state of California.
• 2–8 years of defense litigation experience.
• 1+ years of coverage/coverage litigation experience.
• Experience in drafting coverage opinions for various insurance lines (CGL, property, professional liability, cyber, IP, etc.).
• Experience in third-party or first-party claims.
• Coverage analysis and writing experience.
• Drafting discovery and pretrial motions; cross-examining plaintiffs and witnesses preferred.
• Experience handling court appearances, depositions, and trial experience a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; superior analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments and offices.
• Investigate claims and draft coverage opinon letters.
• In coverage litigation matters, draft pleadings, motions, and handle discovery.
• Provide clients with insurance coverage advice on various topics.
• Communicate with clients and provide status reports.
