Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking an Insurance Coverage/Insurance Litigation Associate in its San Francisco office. The role focuses on handling insurance coverage and coverage litigation matters for clients across California and the US, including drafting opinions and managing discovery.

Admittance to the California Bar and 2-8 years of defense litigation experience are required, with at least 1 year in coverage matters.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice in the state of California.
• 2-8 years of defense litigation experience.
• 1+ years of coverage/coverage litigation experience.
• Experience drafting coverage opinions in one or more insurance lines (CGL, property, professional liability, cyber, IP, etc.).
• Experience in either or both third-party or first-party claims.
• Coverage analysis and writing experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments and offices.
• Investigate claims and draft coverage opinion letters.
• In coverage litigation, draft pleadings and handle discovery.
• Provide clients with insurance coverage advice and status updates.
