Wilson Elser's San Francisco office seeks an Insurance Coverage/Insurance Litigation Associate to join a collaborative, top-ranked national firm. The ideal candidate has CA bar admission, 2–8 years of defense litigation, and at least 1 year in coverage/coverage litigation, with strong writing and analytical skills.

The position offers a flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement, competitive salary range of $155,000–$210,000 USD, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in California.
• 2-8 years of defense litigation experience.
• 1+ years of insurance coverage/coverage litigation experience.
• Experience drafting coverage opinions across multiple insurance lines (CGL, property, professional liability, cyber, etc.).
• Experience with third-party or first-party claims.
• Experience drafting discovery and pretrial motions.
• Cross-examining witnesses and trial experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments and offices.
• Investigate claims and draft coverage opinion letters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and handle discovery in coverage litigation.
• Provide clients with insurance coverage advice and status updates.
