Job summary

Confidential Employer in Houston seeks an Associate Attorney to join its litigation team, working directly with experienced partners. This role focuses on first- and third-party insurance coverage issues, with responsibility for drafting opinions, memoranda, and motions, and contributing to defense strategies in civil litigation.

Requirements include a JD, Texas Bar active status, 1+ year of litigation experience, and strong research/writing skills.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active Texas State Bar membership in good standing.
• 1+ years of experience practicing law, ideally in a litigation-focused environment.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys and support staff.
• Insurance coverage, insurance defense, commercial litigation, or personal injury litigation experience preferred.
• Motivated, team-oriented, and interested in long-term professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze first-party and third-party insurance coverage issues.
• Draft detailed insurance coverage opinions, legal memoranda, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Assist in defending lawsuits involving homeowners and automobile insurance coverage claims.
• Handle insurance coverage disputes and support litigation strategies from case evaluation through resolution.
• Participate in discovery, case preparation, and other aspects of civil litigation.
• Assist with commercial litigation, business disputes, and securities or arbitration matters as needed.
• Work directly with partners and fellow associates to develop effective legal arguments and client solutions.
• Take ownership of assigned projects while expanding your litigation, research, and writing experience.
